Fixed Denture - Permanent Denture on Dental Implants

A denture is a replacement for missing teeth. A complete denture for the whole mouth replaces all natural and missing teeth in the mouth. A denture is also called a dental prosthesis.

A complete denture does not have any natural teeth to hold it in the mouth. Therefore, it should be placed on dental implants in each jaw. The dental implants hold the denture in its place in the mouth.

A complete denture without dental implants will cause wounds and bruises in the mouth while talking, eating, and chewing because it will not stay in one position in the mouth without the dental implants.

Procedure for Denture Placed on Dental Implants

A dental implant surgery is done in two parts. In the first part, dental implants are placed in the jaw bone, and in the second part, a denture is placed over the dental implants.

First Visit: The first visit is of 4-5 days. In this visit, dental implants are placed. It takes 45-60 minutes to insert one dental implant. After the surgery, you can resume your daily work after 2-3 days. The denture is not yet placed in this surgery because the bone needs time to heal completely.

Healing / Waiting Time: The healing / waiting time is of 2 months. During this period, you can wear a temporary denture it does not affect the healing.

Second Visit: The second visit is of 6-7 days. In this, a denture of 28 teeth is placed over the dental implants that were inserted in the jaws in the first visit. No healing time is required after this.
