Lumineers are completely non-invasive, thus are better unless of course otherwise decided by the dentist.
What is the difference between veneer and a crown?
veneers are thin shell-like covering only on the front of the tooth, where as crowns cover the tooth like a cap.

Veneers and lumineers do not come off easily. In case if they do because of any accident or injury, they can be easily put back by the dentist.

Are they painful?

It might cause some sensitivity while the tooth is being prepared but that can be taken care off by an anesthetic. After the veneers are placed, you might feel uncomfortable for few hours or a couple of days. This happens because the lips and tongue need some time to adjust to the new size of the teeth.
