Lumineers is the best treatment for teeth whitening because it makes the teeth permanently white and does not damage the teeth.

Teeth bleaching temporarily makes teeth white for 6-12 months but also damages the teeth. It is not recommended.

You will find a few more options for teeth whitening on internet, but either they do not work or have very small effect. Therefore, these methods are not recommended. These methods are: use a teeth whitening toothpaste, or rub baking soda, oil and salt on teeth. These methods will have almost no effect on teeth color.

However, if you get your teeth cleaned by a dentist, it not only removes plague from teeth but also makes the teeth slightly bright, but it will not make the teeth perfectly white in color. Regular (yearly) cleaning of teeth by a dentist is highly recommended. it keeps the teeth healthy and makes the teeth slightly bright.

Teeth bleaching is temporary and lasts for 6-12 months.

Procedure for Placing Veneers

Veneers and Lumineers are placed in 3-4 days in two parts.

First Visit: In the first visit, the dentist does a complete checkup and takes an impression of the mouth. In case of veneers, the impression is taken after reducing the teeth, whereas for lumineers, impression is taken without tooth reduction. The first visits takes 30-60 minutes. Veneers are made in 2-3 days.

Second Visit:  After a gap of 2-3 days, in the second visit, the veneers are permanently glued to the teeth surface using a very strong chemical.

The second visit takes a longer time because each veneer or lumineer takes 20-30 minutes to apply on one tooth. So, if you have multiple veneers then it can take up to 7-8 hours to apply on all teeth.

Precautions after Treatment

  • Eat soft food for 24 hours after the surgery
  • Avoid hot food and drinks for 24 hours after surgery
  • Do not drink from a straw for 24 hours
  • Do not spit or gargle or rinse harshly for 24 hours
  • Take prescribed medicine on time
  • Keep your teeth clean and maintain good oral hygiene.
